I got hired as a sales rep for VECTOR TM (Cutlery, Cutco)?
I am scheduled to be trained and I am sure I will learn some basic techniques in sales. I need your guys' advices on sales and business etiquette. though. I went in for the interview and they had a very professional environment. Also Should I befriend coworkers? How do you guys treat your coworkers in office? Thank you.
I agree with the other poster on here. Do your homework first. When I went to do a websearch for Vector Marketing Cutco, the Yahoo autocomplete part started to place the word "scam" in the search field. Ouch!
Here's the deal though. I would say go ahead and check it out, but don't give them a single penny of your money. It seems that they want $150 to "train" people to work for them. Let me tell you, any business that requires you to front some money for their training is a complete ripoff. Any legitimage business is going to train you for free because they see merit in your ability to be a team player and make the company profitable.
But, there is one bright side to this. If you can get in for free, sometimes the life experience is actually worthwhile. I took-on some telemarketing jobs in my early years in business (long before the "do not call list" became the law) and let me say this. It really forced me to do things I was uncomfortable with, but that was a POSITIVE. It made me more valuable in later jobs because I had developed a professional telephone personality that helped me later in my business life. I've even talked to people that were involved with Amay (rolls eyes), but found found that being involved with Amway actually got them out of their proverbial comfort zones and taught them how to make business contacts. So, the moral is, every dark cloud has a silver lining.
