PHYSICS What was the speed of the bullet? You can treat the wood block as a particle.?
A 2.4 kg wood block hangs from the bottom of a 1.0 kg, 1.2m long rod. The block and rod form a pendulum that swings on a frictionless pivot at the top end of the rod. A 14 g bullet is fired into the block, where it sticks, causing the pendulum to swing out to a 32 degree angle.

My initial calculations gave me v=27.223m/s
EDIT: workings
First determine the centre of mass of the physical pendulum.
(1*.6 + 1.2*2.4)/(2.4 + 1) = 1.02353m from the pivot
Then the change in potential energy of the pendulum caused by the kinetic energy of the bullet would be
3.4*9.81 (1.02353 - 1.02353*Cos(32)) = 0.5*14*10^(-3) v^2
v = 27.2225m/s
